EditionGuard is a secure and robust eBook DRM (digital rights management) service, based on the industry standard Adobe Content Server. The aim of EditionGuard is to provide eBook publishers with a cost-effective and easy to use DRM system that does not require heavy investment and can be integrated directly into your sales platform with API’s.
It’s very simple; your eBooks are uploaded to us through a convenient web interface and stored in an encrypted data vault which you will have full access to. The encryption is done using the newest industry standard algorithms, so your eBooks will be totally secured. eBook buyers will then only be able to access the eBooks which they have purchased. This is done through a simple integration with our API's in your e-commerce application and is platform independent.
The buyer will be authenticated automatically with our servers when an eBook they have purchased needs to be accessed. This is quick and easy for them as a simple ID/password would be required. The system is supported by all the eBook readers and all internet enabled pcs / tablets / mobile devices.
Conservative estimates of the revenues lost to piracy and unauthorized sharing suggest that 20% of all unprotected eBooks are illegally shared. This means that although a direct 20% revenue increase would not be realistic if piracy were prevented, a significant proportion could well be realized in sales instead of loss to piracy.
EditionGuard prevents buyers from being able to copy and distribute content they have purchased in order to protect the copyright owners' interests. In addition, usage statistics are gathered which can help to increase sales of eBooks by matching trends and buyer preferences to future offerings.
